Former Orlando Pirates defender Mahamutsa is happy Pirates are in the CAF CL

Former Orlando Pirates defender Rooi Mahamutsa believes the Buccaneers have a good chance of getting a second star when they return to the CAF Champions League next year.
Now in the colours of Free State Stars, Mahamutsa was part of the Pirates team that was beaten in the 2013 Champions League final by Egyptian giants Al Ahly.
Mahamutsa has great memories from playing in Africa’s premier club competition, particularly when he scored against Esperance in Tunis in the semi-finals.
Pirates ended the season in second place on the Absa Premiership standings with coach Micho Sredojevic, after last term’s disastrous campaign saw them finishing outside the top eight for the first time in the PSL era.
“They will have their work cut out next season to ensure they compete on all fronts.
“I am very happy with the way they are playing now because the players are working well with the new technical team and I am very happy that they are going back to Africa. I wish them well, that they can go do well like when I was there,” the big defender said.
“I wish they can go all the way and put the second star on their jersey. It will be a good feeling for them.”
Mahamutsa will be looking for some success of his own when Stars take on Maritzburg United in the Nedbank Cup final at Cape Town Stadium on Saturday (19h00).
