On arrival at Mwanza airport he promised to address the challenges facing it.
He said he would like to see Mwanza airport gaining international status that would help the country get more income through the aviation sector.
At Mwanza airport the president was welcomed by Mwanza Regional Commissioner John Mongella, Deputy Minister of Lands, Housing and Human Settlements Development Angeline Mabula and Chama Cha Mapinduzi Regional Chairman Dr. Antony Diallo.
While at the airport, President Magufuli addressed airport staff where he promised to solve the challenges facing them and the airport at large.
Among the challenges he mentioned included construction of an arrival and departure lounge for passengers and construction of a fence around the airport fence construction surrounding the airport.
He also said he was going to ensure the challenge of transporting fish from Mwanza airport due to high taxes was solved.
“My government will address the challenges by building an arrivals and departures building and a fence around the with a view to making the airport have an international standard, thus enabling the country to get more income,” the president said.
Magufuli also said he was waiting for a report from the Ministry of Lands regarding the fate of invaders, noting that the government would ensure the 1,900 households were properly compensated.
“You should not make any new developments in the area as the government is working on the best way to go about your fate,” he said.
The president proceeded to his home village, Chato, in Geita region for a short holiday.
