Speaking to the media in Dar es Salaam yesterday, Chadema Deputy Secretary General John Mnyika said misuse of security organs was among issues they would complain about.
Mnyika, who is also Kibamba member of parliament in Dar es Salaam, was speaking on behalf of party chairman Freeman Mbowe.
He said he believed parliamentarians from other parties would join them to protest against the abuses.
“I believe we won’t be alone on this because several other lawmakers are not happy with the government’s performance, especially when it comes to a break-up in law and order,” he said.
He said the president was abusing his powers to defend a person who he claimed to be a criminal to the extent of sacking a minister.
The MP called on the public to join forces and protest against the ongoing kind of leadership, saying it threatened national security and unity.
According to him, the public needed to understand that abuse of power had a negative impact on them as well and not only to opposition parties.
They said it was crucial for the president to speak out on the reasons for sacking former minister for Information, Culture, Art and Sport Nape Nnauye.
In another development, Chadema has appointed Lawrence Masha and Ezekiel Wenje to vie for slots in the East Africa Legislative Assembly (EALA).
EALA is supposed to have nine members from each member country and Tanzania has to field nine representative, six from the ruling party CCM , two from Chadema and one from CUF.
